Description of Arasam Pazham / Peepal Fruit Powder:
Peepal is unrivalled for its antiquity and religious significance. No other tree is claimed to have such long life, It is a large deciduous tree with a pale stem often appearing fluted on account of the numerous roots which have fused with the stem. Leaves leathery 4-8 inches long by 3-5 inches wide, somewhat egg-shaped or rounded, tailed at the tip and heart-shaped at the base, or sometimes rounded. The young leaves are frequently pink, change to copper and finally to green. Flowers minute within the receptacle. Fruit is a fig.Dried fruits contain moisture 9.9, albuminoids 7.9, fatty matter 5.3, carbohydrates 34.9, ash 8.3, silica 1.85, phosphorus 0.69. Fruits also contain 4.9% protein having the essential amino acids, isoleucine and phenylalanine.

Pipal fruits or figs are good for digestive system. The dried fig powder is given in case of asthma. Fruits are cooling, digestive, laxative and aphrodisiac. For asthma, dried and powdered fruits are taken with water for fifteen days.
Constipation:
Fruits have laxative action and their intake give relief in constipation.
Leucorrhoea:
Mix equal proportions of pulp of fruit and sugar. Take it orally along with milk.

Dosage of Arasam Pazham / Peepal Fruit Powder:
Morning – Mix 5 gms of powder in 100 ml water, Boil the content for few minutes. once the water gets warm, filter the content and drink it before food. Repeat the same for Evening Dosage after dinner.
Asthma:
Mix equal part of fruit powder and bark powder. Intake of this powder gives relief in Asthma. (OR) Fruit powder is taken with honey.
